Lake James Communities

In addition to Pisgah Preserve at Lake James, there are other communities at Lake James which are designed to preserve natural resources.

1780 is named for the year the Overmountain Men marched through the area to the Batttle of Kings Mtn.  The development features an extensive trail system and focuses on the heritage of Lake James.  Homesites range from 2-6 acres.

Old Wildlife Club features meadows and mountain views of the Pisgah National Forest and Linville Gorge.  Homesites range from 1-8 acres.  Both Old Wildlife Club and 1780 are designed so that the property's natural resources are protected.

**Owners in both 1780 and Old Wildlife Club are founding members of Camp Lake James, a lakefront camp retreat featuring a social hall, fitness center, pools & other outdoor activities.

Black Forest features views of the Black Mtn. range and the Pisgah National Forest and is one of the most elite developments on Lake James.  Homesites range from 3-20 acres and the development features an extensive path network, full time caretaker on premises, lake camp, river camp and gazer's shelter for experiencing panoramic mountain views.

Bear Cliff is a gated community located on the northwest side of the lake in McDowell County.  Bear Cliff Village features townhomes and is located beside of Bear Cliff.  Amenities of both communities include tennis court and marina with general store, restaurant and boat storage.

Dry Creek is an addition to the South Pointe community which features large home sites.  Amenities include trails, pool, clubhouse and boat slips.  The development also focuses on preserving natural resources.

East Shores is an established community on the southeast side of Lake James in Burke County.  Amenities include pool, clubhouse, tennis court and boat slips.  Homesites average one acre.

Lakeview Hills is an exclusive gated community in a private wooded atmosphere.  Homesites are large and secluded.  Located in McDowell County.

Laurel Pointe is a community established in the early 90's and is located on the Burke County side of the lake.  Vinyl sided homes are permitted.

Mallard Pointe is located in Burke County and has homesites ranging from half an acre to two acres.

South Pointe is a large established community located in Burke County.  Homesites begin at half an acre.  Amenities include pool, clubhouse and boat slips.

Waterglyn is located in McDowell County with homesites around one acre in size.  Community boat slips.

Sunset Point is a gated community located in McDowell County and features western mountain views.

**All of these lake communities have restrictive covenants which govern types of homes constructed.
